Author of the Month

Val McDermid is one of Scotland's most successful crime writers, and her Tony Hill series of novels have been adapted for television. She has won numerous awards, including a CWA Cartier Diamond Dagger award this year. Originally from Kirkcaldy (she attended the same school as the PM Gordon Brown), McDermid now lives in Northumberland with her partner. Her most recent book is The Fever of the Bone.
