It can truly be said that Gerald Howat has led a life dedicated to cricket. The author of more than 20 books on the subject, including acclaimed biographies of England captains Len Hutton, Walter Hammond and Pelham Warner, Howat has been writing on the sport for 40 years in the "Daily Telegraph". A schoolteacher and lifelong pioneer of schools cricket, Howat has played cricket from an early age, at school then at university and for MCC teams against assorted schools and clubs. He has been a member of MCC for more than 40 years and has served the club in several administrative capacities notably on the Arts and Libraries Committee and on the Publishing Working Party. Amazingly as he nears his 80th birthday, Gerald Howat is still playing cricket for his village club, North Moreton in Oxfordshire. "Cricket All My Life" is a great read from a journalist and author who has seen, in action, all the great players of the last half of the twentieth century and occupied a place among those that have shaped cricket for the twenty-first century.
