Crinan Canal

Work on the Crinan Canal began in 1794, but its popularity only grew after Queen Victoria travelled along it in 1847. The short, but scenic, canal has been popular with tourists ever since and, as commercial traffic dwindled in the early 20th century, yachts and pleasure cruisers are now its main traffic.
