Dee And Don Inspiration

The River Dee and the River Don both start their journeys in the Scottish Highlands. The rivers flow through 85 miles of picturesque countryside before emerging into the North Sea at Aberdeen. Although both rivers commence their journeys a few miles apart and emerge within the same city, their journeys are quite different. The Dee is synonymous with fishing, shooting and forestry, while the Don is associated more with agriculture and cattle farming.Although very different in nature, the rivers have one thing in common: they have both inspired writers and artists for centuries. Poets have been fascinated with the history, the heritage and the cultures of the two meandering journeys and artists have been keen to capture the ever-changing light in the Dee and Don valleys.This book features the work of several local poets, writers, photographers and artists who have all been inspired, in one way or another, by the rivers Dee and Don. The work features a blend of traditional and contemporary creations, bound together by descriptive chapter introductions by Michael Pegler.
