"Empty Pocket Blues" is the biography of Clive Palmer, a London-born beatnik banjo player who began playing skiffle and jazz in Soho clubs and coffee bars in the 1950s, honing his skills during two years spent busking in Paris. In 1962 he moved to Edinburgh where he formed a duo with Robin Williamson which became The Incredible String Band in 1965. After recording their first album in 1966 he hitch-hiked from Glasgow to Afghanistan, having many adventures on the way. He later moved to Cornwall where he arguably produced his best work with COB, who are more influential than ever. He has never stopped playing and remains an influence to many musicians on the current folk scene. "Empty Pocket Blues" is the story of a man who was part of some of the most intriguing times in British musical and social history.
