NJC: I'm not a military history buff, but when this book was given to me as a gift I found myself drawn to the idea of having in my hands a true and documented account of a quite extraordinary adventure and so I began - and didn't put it down until I reached the final sentence. The story is a page turner and it provides fresh insight into a troubling period in our history. Captain Bradford, with great fortitude and imagination, exemplifies the ideal.
