Lachann Dubh A'Chrògain

Songs from two Argyll islands, linked by the musical traditions of one family, are brought to life in this book by Maighread M. Lobban, a native of Lismore. Her great-grandfather, Lachlan Livingstone (1819-1901), known as Lachann Dubh a'Chrògain, was the last bard and piper to clan chief MacLaine of Lochbuie in Mull. His grandsons, three MacDonald brothers from Lismore, also composed many popular Gaelic songs. This is an attractive collection of 32 songs, in print together for the first time, plus notes, tunes and old photographs. The text is entirely bi-lingual, in English and Gaelic, and so is of interest too to Gaelic learners.
