It is probably true that the fame of the three Cunard Queens set the seal on the reputation that the Clyde held as a centre of excellence for the building of passenger liners. John Brown's of Clydebank was the epicentre, it should be emphasised that there were many other contributors to the high estimation in which the river was held.
