For sixteen-year-old Lizzie McDougall, life in the Glasgow tenements comes as a culture shock after her sheltered upbringing in the Highlands. He moved here for the sake of his family's future, but now he's in danger of throwing that future away...It falls to Lizzie's mother, Ethne, to hold the family together. And soon she's doing so in a way that none of them could have envisaged when Lizzie, on one fateful night with Jack, does the wrong thing with the worst possible results...
