One Man's Mountains

Tom Patey, one of Scotland's best-known climbers, was killed on May 25th 1970 while abseiling from a sea-stack off the northern Scottish coast. His death marked the loss of not only one of Scotland's greatest climbers but also of a man whose infectious charm and talent as a writer were to be sorely missed. He was in the process of editing the articles that appear in this book and these, along with his much sough-after poems, were published soon after. One Man's Mountains is a fitting tribute to one of the most singular and admired climbers that Britain has produced.
