The National Galleries of Scotland Picture Library provides a first-class resource of material from the world-renowned collection of the National Galleries of Scotland. Whether you want an image for a book or other media, a picture of your ancestor, or a work to decorate your home, we can provide high-quality photographs and prints to meet most requirements. The wide range of the collection covers all periods from the Renaissance to the present day and includes some of the best-loved images in the history of Western Art.
Traditional
The National Gallery collection has paintings, sculptures and drawings from the Renaissance to the nineteenth century and includes artists such as Titian, Rembrandt, Poussin, Gauguin, El Greco, Degas and Gainsborough.
Additionally, there is a large print collection, which is particularly strong in Scottish works.
The Face of Scotland
The Portrait Gallery has an unrivalled collection of the portraits of Scots who have made history – Bonnie Prince Charlie, Sir Walter Scott, Robert Burns, Adam Smith and David Livingstone to name but a few.
Modern and Contemporary
The Gallery of Modern Art has Scotland’s finest collection of twentieth-century painting, sculpture and graphic art. The major international movements as well as modern Scottish art are represented, including the Penrose and Paolozzi archives and a world-class holding of Surrealist works.
Photography
The Scottish National Photography Collection has material from the early pioneering work of Hill and Adamson to contemporary work from international photographers.
