Gavin Booth examines the many municipal operators that existed in Scotland in the era before 1975. Whilst concentrating upon the 'big four' cities - Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow - he also examines the smaller operators, such as Ayr, Perth, Kilmarnock and Kirkcaldy.
