The Broons' Days Oot! is a guide to days out in Scotland, with extensive coverage of Historic Scotland and National Trust for Scotland sites, and promotes Visit Scotland's Perfect Day Oot in Scotland campaign. Horace Broon explains that it all started as a piece of homework:

'Our big project at school this year was SCOTLAND. We had to think up an idea about the country we live in. I remembered all the great days oot we've enjoyed as a family, going to see different places, so I got Maw, Paw, Granpaw, Daphne, Hen, Joe, Maggie, the Twins and the Bairn, to tell me about their favourite days oot. I went to the local library, and the lady there gave me tons of advice. I learned about the internet, and how to look up information. Maw let me have some pictures from her memory box, and I went round places getting leaflets too. Then I printed it all out.'
