The stories collected here make up Rhona's biography, an oral narrative composed and recorded by her over a period of twelve years (1992-2004). The sound recordings were transcribed by friends who live near her on Skye.Unlike the author's first collection, Consider an Island, the present work is composed of traditional stories interweaved with the main autobiographical narrative. The inspiration for this collection is a living tree on the waterfront of Broadford Bay at the foot of Beinn na Caillich in South Skye, a native ash tree that is a spiritual landmark in Rhona's daily walks.
