Morris Mageilan is an executive who runs a biscuit company. He has a house in the suburbs, nice wife and kids. But Morris is also a chronic alcoholic, heading fast towards self-destruction. Unlike the New York and London-based antiheroes of the yuppie novel, Morris is not a victim of excess. He isn't a coke-and-booze-bingeing style victim with perhaps one eye on the clock, hoping to meet Ms Right and acquire the two kids and the suburban home that will straighten everything out.
