doodlemacdoodle: Publisher of the Month
Building on this reputation Bookspeed have now established their publishing business doodlemacdoodle and are using their most successful themes and formats to create their own series of gift books with modern and positive Scottish content.
They have now embarked on their preliminary range of design led Scottish gift books and their first title, Och Wheesht and Get Oan Wae It, sold in excess of 23,000 copies in its first three months. This ground breaking gift book gives a Scottish twist to the Keep Calm and Carry On industry and provides a hilarious collection of Scottish wisdom for every occasion.
The second instalment of doodlemacdoodle’s Scottish gift book range is Eat Haggis and Ceilidh On. It celebrates diverse Scottish delights such as whisky porridge, the Melrose Sevens and the Loony Dook. The book has thus far sold 6,000 copies in its fledgling weeks and this is expected to continue growing.
Due for imminent release is the third in the series Braw Stuff Fae Scotland. Following the same format as its successful counterparts, albeit with a smidgeon of extra substance, Braw Stuff delivers a fascinating collection of over 150 headings on a diverse and enlightening range of Scottish subjects which will both inspire and amuse including the Sea Eagle, Sherlock Holmes, Ultrasound, Irn Bru, the Steam Engine and many more.
Encased in an attractive cover this book contains ideas and anecdotes around people, information and discoveries from Neolithic times to the modern day to absorb, educate and entertain.
Kingsley Dawson, founder of doodlemacdoodle said "As with all our books, Braw Stuff Fae Scotland is aimed to appeal to both citizens and visitors making the reader proud of their connection with Scotland, whatever it may be". The book will be published on 22nd March and an additional two titles in the series are already being planned.
Their books have thus far proved a hit with natives and non-natives alike and with the tourist season approaching this trio of books looks set to keep growing and be a huge success.
