Scottish Adult and General Book Prizes
- The Saltire Society run an annual literary prize, announced on St Andrews Day. There are awards for First Book of the Year, History Book of the Year, Research Book of the Year and an overall Book of the Year.
- The National Short Story Prize
- James Tait Black Memorial Prizes for Biography and Fiction
- Wigtown Poetry Competition
- Neil M. Gunn Writing Competition
- ASLS/Burns Federation Schools Writing Competition
- Scottish Community Drama Association Playwriting competition
- The Scottish Arts Council Book of the Year award is being relaunched in 2007
- The Dundee Book Prize is an international award for unpublished writers
Scottish Children's Book Prizes
- The Royal Mail Award for the Scottish Children's Book, administered by Scottish Book Trust. The award is split into 3 age groups, 0 to 7, 8 to 12, and 13 to 16
- Floris Books run The Kelpies Prize for Scottish writing for children
- The Angus Book Award runs every three years for teenage novels
- The Dundee Picture Book Prize
- The Grampian Children's Book Award is judged by schoolchildren from Aberdeenshire and Moray
- The Highland Children's Book of the Year Award has three categories - Picture Books, Aged 8+ and Aged 12+
- The South Lanarkshire Book Award is chosen by 13- and 14-year-olds from the South Lanarkshire area.
British Children's Book Awards
- The Carnegie Medal
- The Kate Greenaway Medal for illustration
- The Guardian Award for Children's Fiction
- The Whitbread Children's Book of the Year
- Smarties Book Prize, awards in three categories: Ages 9 to 11, 6 to 8, and 5 and under.
- Mother Goose Award, for an 'exciting newcomer to British children's book illustration.'
- Signal Poetry Award, announced each year in the May issue of the journal Signal: Approaches to Children's Books.
