A lot of people think rainbows and butterflies and clouds when they think poetry, and longs hours in front of an anthology at school trying to understand what its all about. BUT THIS ISN'T WHAT POETRY IS ABOUT. And Soapbox is trying to show people what it is about, the coming together of ideas and minds from across Edinburgh and Scotland to show off the talent of young and old, experienced and new, keen eyed and jaded faces of real life poets. Not on the page but with a mic, the spoken word revolution.

There's an open mic slot from half 9 till half ten every event. Let us know if you intend to attend. Or rock up and give us some lines.

Musicians, singer songwriters, bands and people who just like to get up on stage... just because its not strictly poetry does not mean you are not welcome. Get in touch if you want to show off some words.
