Ali Smith wins the 2005 Whitbread Award for Novel of the Year

Scottish novelist Ali Smith has won the 2005 Whitbread 'Novel of the Year' award for The Accidental. The award, which will be formally announced at a ceremony on the 24th January, follows a Booker Award nomination for The Accidental.
