Boardman Tasker 2006 Shortlist

The Boardman Tasker Prize is the premier award for mountain literature, and this year two Scottish titles have been shortlisted for the £2000 prize.

High Endeavours: The Life And Legend of Robin Smith by Jimmy Cruickshank and published by Canongate celebrates the life of one of Scotland's most daring climbers, Robin Smith. Smith, who was born in colonial India but was schooled in Perthshire, died in 1962 in a climbing accident. This is Cruickshank's first book.

Jim Perrin is one of the UK's most prolific mountain writers, and his new essay collection, called simply The Climbing Essays, has also been shortlisted. Jim Perrin is a previous winner of the Boardman Tasker Prize.
