Dundee Book Prize Winner Announced 2007

The winner of the 2007 Dundee International Book Prize was announced on February 28th 2007. The winning book is The Triple Point of Water by Fiona Dunscombe. The novel is a coming-of-age book featuring a young woman whose troubled background led her to become a stripper in London. Fiona Dunscombe, who now lives in France, left school at sixteen and worked as a stripper in London for three years during the 1980s.

Fiona Dunscombe is the first non-Scottish winner of the Dundee International Book Prize.

The judges praised the novel as "Gritty, dark and full of life" (James Naughtie) and "An assured, clever and understated search for identity, threaded with a subtle political critique" (Carl MacDougall).
