The McLellan Award 2008 for Play Writing

The McLellan Award for Play Writing is named after Robert McLellan, a playwright from Lanarkshire who first published in 1933. This year's competition, for a play written in Scots, is judged by Jacqui Clark, Jullie Ellen, Kate Nelson and Edwin Stiven.

Submissions are to be sent to gough.carlo@virgin.net and should be sent as an email attachment.

The basic rules are:

  1. The play should be written in living Scots. It may be set in any time period, and in any form of Scots or Scots dialect
  2. The running time should be 40 to 50 minutes
  3. The play should be for up to 3 actors and featuring a maximum of 3 settings
  4. There is a £5 entrance fee to be paid online

The winning play will receive £1000 plus an award sculpted by Marvin Elliot. The play will be performed at Oran Mor in Glasgow in March 2009.
