The McLellan Award 2008 for Play Writing
The McLellan Award for Play Writing is named after Robert McLellan, a playwright from Lanarkshire who first published in 1933. This year's competition, for a play written in Scots, is judged by Jacqui Clark, Jullie Ellen, Kate Nelson and Edwin Stiven.
Submissions are to be sent to gough.carlo@virgin.net and should be sent as an email attachment.
The basic rules are:
- The play should be written in living Scots. It may be set in any time period, and in any form of Scots or Scots dialect
- The running time should be 40 to 50 minutes
- The play should be for up to 3 actors and featuring a maximum of 3 settings
- There is a £5 entrance fee to be paid online
The winning play will receive £1000 plus an award sculpted by Marvin Elliot. The play will be performed at Oran Mor in Glasgow in March 2009.
