Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust 2011 Book Awards Longlist

Nineteen books have been longlisted for the 2011 Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust Book Awards, which is run by Creative Scotland. The awards, with a total prize fund of £30,000, will go to a category winner shortlist stage, before the overall Book of the Year is announced.

The judges for the 2011 awards are Professor Kirsty Gunn, Alistair Moffat and Professor Carla Sassi, and the judging panel was chaired by Gavin Wallace of Creative Scotland. There are four categories: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry, and First Book of the Year.

The Scottish authors and poets longlisted for the 2011 prize are Alan Warner, Robert Alan Jamieson, James Robertson, Stewart Conn, Eddie Gibbons, Jackie Kay, Andrew Greig, Stuart Kelly, Robin Robertson, Kai Miller, Leila Aboulela, Cynthia Rogerson, James McGonigal, Simon Hall and Maggie Rabatski.

The four category winners will be announced on Sunday 15th May, and the overall winner will be announced at the Edinburgh International Book Festival on Friday 26th August 2011.
