The Scottish Review Greatest Scots - Literary Talent
Who's Who in Scotland is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an opinion poll to find the 'Greatest Scot' of the last quarter-century. 25 Scots have been shortlisted, and the full list is available on the Scottish Review website.
Politicians make up the largest group of names, but writers and poets come second with six shortlisted names. Those writers are Sorley MacLean, George Mackay Brown, Ian Hamilton Finlay, Norman MacCaig, Edwin Morgan and Nigel Tranter. All the people shortlisted have to have made some contribution to Scottish life in the last 25 years, i.e. since the original publication of Who's Who in Scotland in 1986.
The Scottish Review is asking for contributions - who do you think is missing from the list, or who do you think should win? The deadline for contributions is Thursday 30th June.
