Welsh Book of the Year

Jim Perrin's mountain writing collection The Climbing Essays has been shortlisted for the English Language Welsh Book of the Year. Perrin, who is of Welsh descent and has lived in Wales, has twice won the Boardman-Tasker award for mountain writing.

The Welsh Book of the Year award, which is worth £10,000, is organised by Academi, the Welsh National Literature Promotion Agency and Society for Authors.

In case you are wondering, The Climbing Essays is published by Glasgow company Neil Wilson Publishing, and so is both a Welsh and a Scottish book.
