Since the inaugural Festival in 2005, Winter Words has gone from strength to strength – and this year boasts an impressive line up, from former Foreign Secretaries to Orange Prize-winners. Attending this year are Martin Bell, Michael Portillo, Helen Dunmore, Lord David Owen, Christopher Rush and Nicholas Crane.
How To workshops provide opportunities to develop your own writing skills, while for younger visitors, the hiperwordz programme offers something different every day.
A question and answer panel on Sunday evening will include John Swinney, MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance in the new Scottish Government.
Three "Literary Lunches" will be held over the weekend with leading authors:
- Friday 25th: Travel writer and novelist Peter Kerr
- Saturday 26th: Christina Lamb
- Sunday 27th: Novelist Bernard MacLaverty
