Glasgow educated Menzies Campbell went on to achieve athletics fame in the 1964 Olympics and the 1966 Commonwealth Games, was captain of the UK Athletics Team 1965-1966 and held the 100-metres record from 1967-1974. He was a distinguished lawyer and then a successful politician, becoming leader of the Liberal Democrats until 2007. Known for his intelligence, honesty and decency. He talks, with The Herald’s Ruth Wishart about his autobiography, which, knowing the man, promises to be very different to other politicians’ work.
