Highwayman's Curse Double Launch
The Cruck Cottage
Torthorwald, nr Dumfries
The Cruck Cottage has been restored to its 18th century starkness. There you will feel the terrible poverty, sense the ghosts of your ancestors looking on, feel shivers down your spine as you hear the chilling tales of suffering during the Killing Times, the background to Nicola Morgan's new novel The Highwayman's Curse.
Children from Moniaive Primary School will be there to re-enact some of the scenes from The Highwayman's Curse, as part of a unique opportunity for the children who have been given advance copies of the book to read. Pupils have organised competitions, reviews, posters and designs for fliers, as well as practising persuasive writing, design and information skills. At the Cruck Cottage launch, pupils will interview Nicola.
Nicola Morgan will also be visiting Castle Douglas High School in the afternoon.
Her second book launch is for Know Your Brain, in which she explains how the brain functions, and how to keep it fit and healthy.
