The 123rd session of Melrose Literary Society will start in October, and we look forward to welcoming you to a series of varied and interesting talks. Membership this year will again be unchanged at £10 and cards will be issued on payment of your subscription at any of the meetings. They all start at 7.30 p.m. Please bring along any friends who might be interested in joining. Guest admissions are also available at £2 per evening.

Meetings are held in the Ormiston Institute in Melrose Square with the exception of the joint meeting with the Historical Society on 18th November.

  • Tuesday 28th October - Mr Allan Massie - Making Fiction - The Celebrated - the author talks about his writing
  • Tuesday 4th November - Mr Peter Quinn - "Thomas Bewick Walks to Scotland - The famous Northumbrian illustrator's local connections"
  • Tuesday 18th November - Mrs Lilias Britton - "The Lawsons of Selkirk" - Joint meeting with the Historical Society
  • Tuesday 2nd December - Dr Donald Smith - "Storytelling Scotland - The Arts of Entertainment - The encouragement of live oral storytelling"
