A wide range of events will be held at the 2007 Wigtown Book Town Spring Festival this year, with appearances from leading authors such as Iain Banks and Jackie Kay. A complete programme of events is available on the Wigtown Festival website, but here are some of our highlights.
Saturday 5th May
- 12.30pm - Wigtown Poetry Competition Prize-giving Lunch - with The Scottish Poetry Library, Jackie Kay and Rody Gorman. Judges Kay and Gorman discuss the winners of the 2006 Wigtown poetry competition, plus a chance to hear the winning poems.
Sunday 6th May
- 1pm - Iain Banks - In Conversation - Iain Banks will be talking about his most recent novel, The Steep Approach to Garbadale
- 3pm - Shirley McKie: The Price of Innocence - The tragedy of the murder of Marion Ross was compounded by the errors in evidence gathering, leading to the persecution of Ayrshire policewoman Shirley McKie and a crisis in the Scottish criminal justice system. Shirley McKie launches her own account of her 9 years of hell, in The Price of Freedom
