A number of leading Scottish authors, including Iain M Banks, Ali Smith, Mairi Hedderwick and Janet Paisley, will be attending the Islay Book Festival in September this year.
Saturday 6th September
- 10.30am - Iain Banks will be answering the question 'where do you get your ideas from?'.
- 12noon - Janet Paisley will be reading from her work, including White Rose Rebel
- 12noon - The crime-writing Mulgray twins will be in conversation with Allana Knight
- 3.30pm - Kenneth Steven will be discussing how he got into writing
For Children
- 10.30am - Linda Strachan will bring her cuddly toys and talk about the colour of love.
- 12noon - Mairi Hedderwick will host a storytelling teddy bear's picnic
- 2pm - In an event for teenagers, Keith A Charters will talk about how writers dream up their stories
- 3.30pm - Find out how Cathy Cassidy got into writing
Sunday 7th September
- 10.30am - Mairi Hedderwick will share some tales from the Hebrides
- 12noon - Ali Smith will be reading from her latest novel, Girl Meets Boy
- 2pm - Iain M Banks introduces Matter, his latest Culture novel, and will be answering questions from the audience
- 3.30pm Alanna Knight explores the truth behind Scotland's first serial killers, Burke & Hare
For Children
- 10.30pm - Cathy Cassidy shares her top tips for young writers
- 12noon - Keith A Charters encourages you to write your own short stories
- 2pm - Kenneth Steven helps you find your own poetic inspiration
- 3.30pm - Linda Strachan shares the secrets of creating weird and wonderful characters
